Orlando is a relatively small Florida city, and yet it is a destination that is known worldwide because it is home to Walt Disney World. While there’s no denying that this city is going to be known first and foremost for Disney, no matter what, it’s worth knowing for the first time traveler that Orlando has plenty of amazing sites to meet the needs of travelers of all ages. This is a very fun and active city so once you have your RV rental ready, it’s time to hit the road and see what Orlando has to offer you!
#1: Disney World
Once again, let’s be real: virtually any city with Disney World in it is going to be the prime attraction and Orlando is no exception. Disney isn’t just for kids or the adults who are kids at heart, but there are plenty of things to do for adults, as well! There are even “drinking guides” specifically for Disney World, so we’re not exaggerating when we say there is something for everyone here.
Besides…are you really going to visit Orlando and tell everyone you didn’t visit Disney World? Let your inner kid go wild for a while, or enjoy a family vacation. This is a place where memories are made and with four theme parks, two water parks, and countless other attractions all under one name and one area how can you resist?
#2: Universal Orlando
Often mentioned in the same breath as Disney, it’s important to understand that these are two very separate mega amusement parks and attractions. Emphasizing different themed islands and attractions, this is a giant theme park based on popular films and technically consists of a water park, two theme parks, a night-time club area, and five different hotels each themed and with its own level of activities and services for guests.
If you’re a film buff and an amusement park fan, Universal really is a match made in heaven when it comes to combining the two.
#3: Restaurant Row
Are you a foodie? Even if not a foodie per se, do you love finding an amazing little restaurant you’ve never eaten at before, especially when on vacation? “Restaurant Row” is located right on the famed West Sand Lake Road, this is literally a mile lined with restaurants of every type imaginable lined on both sides of the road. From high end Turkish, Italian, and Polynesian fare to the legendary seafood of Big Fin Seafood Kitchen, whatever you want you will be able to find. There are many choices available and no matter what you are in the mood for, there is something that will meet all of your needs.
So get hungry, and get ready for some stunningly good meals during your Orlando road trip!
#4: Kennedy Space Center
Located a mere 45 minutes away, the Kennedy Space Center is home to NASA and while the full tour costs $50 a person for any space junkie this is well worth it. Seeing where some of the most brilliant minds work and getting to experience the living history is something remarkable, and the Astronaut Hall of Fame and IMAX 3-D theater offers some truly unique and remarkable experiences.
